Silo Barn quilt

I've made so many barns and silo barns from Lori Holt's "Farm Girl Vintage" book.  I made a quilt out of the "Quilty Barn" block, which you can see here.

June 1, 2015, I made the Silo Barn quilt, which you can see here and in the photo below.

The Fat Quarter Shop and Lori are having a sew along called the "Quilty Barn" qal.  I knew this would be a great opportunity for me to get my little quilt out of the closet and machine quilt it, finally!!!

I machine quilted the quilt with a wavy stitch on my sewing machine.

This is the quickest sew along I've ever done!!! LOL

I backed the quilt with some chicken fabric which wasn't quite wide enough, so I added some apple fabric on the side.

Chickens eat apple, right?  Chickens live in barns, right?

This quilt will be going in my grandchildren pile, it's #26.  I'm just making one more... That will be 27 quilts for 15 grandchildren to choose from.  I think that's a pretty good selection :)

Farm Girl Vintage Silo Barn

I made another silo barn from my Farm Girl Vintage book by Lori Holt.
The six inch block is called "peas and carrots", so I used green and orange fabric.

I bought a Craftsy class, it was machine quilting with your straight foot, by Jacquie Gehring.
What  a great class, I learned so much!
This is the first time I attempted crosshatch or square machine quilting, and I just love how it turned out.
I find it easy to machine quilt a mini quilt, because it's so simple to maneuver.

I made this mini for my friend, she loves pink and aqua colors together.

I used a Miny Moo back, it makes me feel really happy with all the colorful owls nesting in trees.
I bound the quilt in orange accentuate the orange in the block.

Farm Girl Vintage, Silo Barn mini quilts

Have I told you how much I love this book?  LOL

I'm making some Christmas gifts for my quilty friends.
I know that this friend loves Hallowe'en!
I made her this Silo Barn with a Patchwork Pumpkin.
The birds on the silo look like crows, very sinister!

The barn window is all about a costume contest and Hallowe'en Carnival :)

I saw this skeleton fabric at a quilt shop recently but only bought a fat quarter, I should have bought more!
Don't you love the color?
It looks like a minty green but not quite, it's very different.
I machine quilted the mini with a straight matchstick design.

I backed the mini silo with the cutest purple (a rich Hallowe'en color) skeleton print, and bound it with a bright orange polka dot.
I hope my friend screeches with delight when she opens her gift!

I made another silo barn for another quilty friend, it's more modern.
I'm not sure what the block on the barn door is called, does anyone know?
I used linen for the background, I really like the look.

I stitched a running embroidery stitch around the barn, and used a wavy machine quilting stitch.

I backed the quilt in a cute bird design.
I think these birds represent happiness, especially when thinking about my friend :)
