Reagan's Princess Dress

We have four grand daughters who were born within 7 months of each other.
Reagan is the youngest, she will be turning 3 in a couple of weeks.
I made her a princess dress for her birthday, purple is her favorite color.
It was a little difficult to find purple fabric that I really loved.
This fabric is sheer, and is variegated with pink and accented with sparkly stars and confetti dots.
I sewed a trim of lavender flowers onto the neckline to add some interest.

I lined all the sheer fabric with purple satin and sewed a peblum at the waist.

There are three layers of lavender tulle under the sheer skirt and on top of the purple satin.
I think it will make a swishing sound when Reagan walks, like a real princess!

Reagan's parents are going to skype with us when she opens the dress so that I can see her reaction.
Isn't she the cutest?

Princess Neo

I made one of my little grand daughters a princess dress, you can read about it here.
She has been wearing it every single day since she opened it!
Her mom makes her take it off when she eats so that there won't be any accidents :)
I promised you a photo of Neo in her princess gown, she just turned 3!
I asked her where her prince was today, and she said, "At work."
Adorable!!!!

A Princess Dress

This is Neo and Charlotte, two of my grand daughters.
They both like to dress as princesses :)
Charlotte has a lot of princess dresses, but Neo doesn't have any.

This is Neo in the dress I made for Charlotte.
Neo's favorite princess is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

I was very fortunate and found some super sparkly fabric to make a princess dress for Neo for her 3rd birthday.
My motto is the more sparkly, the better.
I spent days making this dress, there are 6 layers in the skirt!

I love the shirred overlay, it's made out of glittery tulle.

Do you think it looks like Belle's dress?

The bodice is lined with satin, but I didn't line the sleeves.

The hem is scalloped, I didn't have to do anything to it.

Do you notice the illusion of pink under the skirt?

I sewed three layers of pink tulle under the yellow lace skirt.
My cousin calls it crinoline, which brings back lots of girly memories from my childhood :)

I'm excited to see Neo's reaction when she opens her princess dress.
I think she will be in "princess heaven"!!!

Charlotte's Princess Dress

I made Charlotte a princess dress for her second birthday.
I went to JoAnn's and bought the sparkliest fabric I could find!

The dress was very yellow, so I added some color and added a fabric flower.  You can find the tutorial here.  I also bought a trim at JoAnn's that is 1" wide elastic covered in yellow sequins.  I made a headband and attached another fabric flower.  Charlotte has the perfect hairdo for an elastic headband.

Fast forward to Charlotte's birthday.  All princesses must have glass slippers.  She is squeezing them onto her feet.....not really!  Real princesses fit their glass slippers perfectly!!!

Isn't it cute how she holds the dress up to see if it fits?  It looks like she has had a lot of practice :)

Oh thank you Grammie, I love it!!!

There's nothing like a little Princess music to set the tone!
